A suspected terrorist who tried to gain entry to a police station in Paris wearing a fake suicide belt on the anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo attack has been shot dead.

The man was apparently shouting ‘Alahu Akbar’ - God is great - and wielding a meat cleaver, according to the Daily Telegraph.

He was later named as 20-year-old homeless man Sallah Ali, with his fingerprints matching those of someone who had been arrested in southern France in 2013 for theft. Sources close to the case said Ali had pledged allegiance to Isil and some paper was found on his body saying he wanted to “avenge the dead in Syria”.

Following the attacks last year, the French government said it would be giving police better equipment, as well as hiring more intelligence agents. Despite being on high alert since then, however, the city was attacked once again in November last year, with 130 people killed at the Bataclan concert hall, as well as in restaurants and bars.

In these uncertain times, it makes sense to ensure that you’re as protected and as safe as you can be. If you are worried and want to take extra precautions, consider investing in bomb blast window film. Such products have been approved by the Ministry of Defence and can help to reduce the impact of flying glass by holding it firmly on the film.

As such, more unnecessary injuries and death are prevented, as well as helping to minimise any damage that could be sustained by your property.
