Because skin cancer is typically considered to be an adult disease, parents may not be doing all they can to protect their children from the dangers of UV radiation – but products like solar control window film could prove beneficial in this regard.

Speaking to Medical News Today, Dr Lisa Chipps of the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California-Los Angeles confirmed that melanoma makes up six per cent of cancer cases in people aged between 15 and 19, and up to three per cent of paediatric cancers.

So how do you best go about protecting young children from the very real dangers of the sun? The Skin Cancer Foundation advises parents that babies under the age of six months should be kept out of direct sunlight because of the low levels of melanin in their skin. It might be worth adding some window film to your nursery windows for that extra level of protection.

When going outside, make sure children are wearing the appropriate clothing, such as a wide-brimmed hat and garments that cover the arms and legs. Also consider using UV window film on the windows of your cars as well.

Our window film has been recognised by The Skin Cancer Foundation as a protective product, so if you’re concerned about the health and wellbeing of your children, or perhaps you run a school and you want to ensure that all youngsters are well looked after, get in touch with us to find out how our products could be of great benefit to you and your young charges today.
