Manchester United’s football ground Old Trafford has taken steps to protect fans, players and staff in the wake of the recent Paris attacks by installing blast protection window film on all the windows.
The work is already underway, with bosses at the club also ensuring that supporters undergo full body searches when they arrive on match days after the Stade de France in Paris was targeted by terrorists who had intended to detonate bombs after gaining entry to the site, the Daily Mail reports.
In fact, the National Counter Terrorism Security Office advises those in charge of stadiums and arenas to ensure that anti-shatter film is installed on all glass on sit, saying: “Anti-shatter film, which holds fragmented pieces of glass together, offers a relatively cheap and rapid improvement to existing glazing.”
