A bomb disposable team has been called to Suffolk after a suspicious package was discovered in a field in Elmswell.

Suffolk police were telephoned earlier this morning (September 2nd) at 09:00 when a passerby found the suspected unexploded bomb in the green near to Wetherden Road.

They described the object as being 30cm long and conical shaped, the East Anglian Daily Times reported.

The police force contacted the bomb disposal team about the phone call, and they immediately made their way to the site.

As they investigate the object, they are liaising with the police over what to do with the suspected bomb and how they can remove it so as to not cause any injury to the public.

At the moment, it is not a threat to people living in the area, as it was not found near any houses or paths, according to the news provider.

While the bomb is likely to have been old, a man was recently arrested in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, for suspected bomb-making activities.

The 54-year-old was taken in by police after they discovered illegal chemicals at his property that could be used to make explosives.

An Explosives Ordinance Disposal team was also called in to investigate the chemicals and conducted a series of controlled explosions throughout the town.

Residents from the nearby streets were evacuated to guarantee their safety during this time.

Companies that want to protect their staff and passersby from explosions could install bomb blast window film. This stops the glass from shattering, limiting the injuries caused by flying glass in the event of a bomb.
