The Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) has been launched by the UK government Department of Business, Energy and Industry (BEIS), supporting industrial businesses that wish to implement innovative new energy efficiency technologies that will drive their operational effectiveness and competitiveness.

Climate Change minister Claire Perry announced the £9.2 million scheme this week (11th October), inviting companies to apply.

Business owners are being encouraged from this top level down to invest in energy efficiency-boosting technologies, and window films could help a business reduce heating bills and shrink their carbon footprint, benefiting both employees and the bottom line.

The IEEA will provide a combination of expert guidance and co-funding to businesses who wish to apply.

Currently, the UK’s industrial sector accounts for 17 per cent of the country’s final energy consumption and over one-fifth of national carbon emissions.

IEEA funding applications are welcome from companies working in mid-to-high energy-intensive sectors and co-funding of between £150,000 and £750,000 is available for successful applicants to support investment in efficiency-boosting technologies.

Industrial companies and technology innovators are invited to apply jointly before the end of September 2018.

This is the latest system to be introduced to help British business owners make their operations more sustainable and to standardise how sustainability issues and investment challenges are presented and shared.

In July, the Better Building Partnership launched a sustainability toolkit aimed at investors in commercial property to help them make the best possible choices about the buildings they are putting money into, and to help them remove some of the risks associated with commercial property investment with regards to sustainability.
