Ireland’s tallest building, the Obel Tower, is currently undergoing a £2 million refurbishment, which will include the installation of solar control window film to make life a lot more comfortable for all the people who live in the apartments.
Thus far, the window film – provided and installed by Hertfordshire-based company Solartek Films – has been fitted to windows on the first three floors and it’s expected that all floors will be completed by the autumn. Solartek itself has worked on many other iconic buildings all over the UK, including the BBC, Harrods and Lords.
Solartek’s Ben Hickling said: “As well as ensuring excellent daytime privacy, the new window films will reflect up to 80 per cent of heat in summer months and reflect 39 per cent radiant heat back during winter — as well as cutting down glare and reducing internal fading. Our project management and installation expertise is matched by the film quality, which is manufactured by our partner Solar Gard Saint-Gobain.”
